The Escondido Downtown Business Association kicked off fashion week by hosting an event that brought out the city council, local entrepreneurs and the high school cheerleading squad. The event raised more than $4500 for The Clearity Foundation. All proceeds will go towards providing molecular profiling services for ovarian cancer patients. At the Stiletto Walk, actress Joan Van Ark (Knots Landing) addressed the crowd along with her sister, Carol Kuykendall, an ovarian cancer survivor and an inspiration to all women battling the disease. Other advocacy groups that participated included Peg Ford who is part of “Survivors Teaching Students: Saving Women’s Lives,” an ovarian cancer education program for medical students and Kim Sager , Founder and President of the Granulosa Cell Tumor of the Ovary Foundation. After the walk, the enthusiastic crowd listened to music and enjoyed complimentary drinks served by Barefoot Wines and Stone Brewing Company. A fun time was had by all! |
